Corona Reading List

After the surprise cancellation of Law Moderations (what we call exams in Oxford under its unique exam system), I was left with a lot of time and very little to do. So I thought I would do some reading. Here is my list. Given Boris Johnson’s plan to develop ‘herd immunity’ in the United Kingdom, I reckon I might need to expand my list at some point—actually, it’s probably more likely to end up neglected… so here goes nothing:

  1. Think: A Compelling Introduction to Philosophy (S Blackburn)
  2. On Liberty (J S Mill)
  3. Selected Writings of Karl Marx (McLellan)
  4. A Theory of Justice (Rawls)
  5. The Republic (Plato)
  6. Second Treatise on Government (Locke)
  7. Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress (S Pinker)
  8. Ready Player One (E Cline)
  9. Call Me By Your Name (A Aciman)
  10. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (PK Dick)
  11. A Clockwork Orange (A Burgess)

I’ll keep this list updated and write a short summary of my thoughts on each book.
